“I just want to say a huge thank you so very much for awarding me the Danielle Butterfield Shining Star award it is an absolute honor and I hope that I can make you proud of your decision. I started riding when I was 10 years old with a little pony that a friend owned, and my love for horses just kept growing and growing. My love of the Australian Stockhorse was born in 2016 with a 17 year old Stockhorse Nandeye Diplomat (Dip), he was a very smart horse and taught me so much about stockhorses, I had not much of an idea back then and he soon taught me the way, he certainly let me know when I was doing things wrong. In 2017 we were watching the Glencoe Stockhorse Stud Clearing Sale and by the end of the sale we were the proud owners of 2 yearling geldings Glencoe Small Talk and Glencoe Last Fling the idea was to keep one and sell the other (they are both staying !!) They arrived in March 2017. I have learnt so much from these two boys. I have learnt that each horse develops at a different rate, that you have to be extremely patient with young horses and some days go great and other days can be frustrating as they learn. I had a special bond with Glencoe Small Talk who is affectionately known as “Roo”, he is who features in my video. Glencoe Last Fling took a little longer to mature and wasn’t started for another 12months, he is now going extremely well and turning heads at many of the shows. I competed in my first Youth Nationals on Roo as a 3yr old in 2018 and had an absolute ball. I met so many beautiful people and made friends that I am still close to today from all over NSW. There were so many adults that were happy to share their knowledge with me and were so very encouraging to me. I absolutely love working my horses and look forward to teaching them more as they mature in age. I have been so fortunate to have had some great people along the way teaching me about horsemanship, starting young horses and fine tuning my riding and I thank each and every one of them, especially Lynne and Max Glasser who took me in over the Christmas holidays after our farm was hit by the fires on the South Coast. I had such a great time with them and being Maxs’ shadow. I can’t wait to work with some young horses again in the near future. “ Teagan was awarded a shield $250 Voucher and a beautiful belt Buckle. As soon as Teagan found out about her voucher she donated her money to support drought ridden farmers. |
